During their short stay of 6 days, the Honorable Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation Mrs. Aneesa Begum Mirza invited Dr. Patel and Dr. Hanumadass for a lunch to meet with the Municipal Corporation political leadership , officials, the Dean of the NHL Municipal Medical College , the L.G. Hospital administration and professional staff. She thanked the AAPI and Samvedana Foundation , USA for undertaking the burns care project. She promised to provide all the help and cooperation from the corporation. A local Samvedana board was also formed to coordinate the activities of the foundation in India and supervise the construction of the burn center at L.G. Hospital . The Ground Breaking ceremony was held on September 26 th , 2003 . One hundred people participated in the event. L.G. Hospital burn unit staff including the director Dr. Bilwani and nursing personnel participated in the ground sanctification ceremony. Dr. Nimish Pandya, superintendent of the hospital laid the first brick.
